*update*

I have now inprocessed at RIP from RIP pending. We are a stone's throw from the holdover barracks, just across a yard and walkway, but the environment is much more serious. We had a guy quit on day negative 2, mouthing off to a Sergeant during our ORIENTATION BRIEFING, before any smoke. I've never s...

He might have been my former roommate. A parachute rigger, now on WW assignment for this reason. There were four riggers in RIP pending and they were always loudmouthing about being badasses... and to my knowledge none of them are in RIP right now.

Update from cdwdirect at RIP

I passed my PT test today, a first time go. Whew. Half the damn group failed! The way things worked out while they were conducting the test, I had ZERO time to recover between events. I was the last guy down doing situps and as soon as I recovered I joined the formation and we ran down to th...

Being Patient

SunDevilWrestler, I'm probably just a few rooms down from you, waiting to ship downrange tomorrow. Hang in there man. The same thing happened to me, I was supposed to go to Alpha and then got split from the formation and sent to D. Co, split off from all but two of my friends from OSUT. I spent my w...

Shipping to RIP on Monday

Rangers, I graduated Airborne School today with D Co. It was a great deal more fun than anything I've done to date in the Army. I recall the first time I was about to jump out the 34' tower, considering for a moment, "Am I really sure the life this is leading to is for me?" And then a few ...

AztecSN95, Take your front ballistic plate and flip it upside down, flat edge to the sky. It works like a charm.

What to do with Sergeant's Gift?

Before my HRAP duties this morning, my recruiter surprised me with a special honor: He had me stand up and he pinned jump wings on the under-flap of my right chest pocket where they are hidden from view, and told me to wear them through Airborne school for luck. They are the original ones that were ...

Excellent work JMar. MEPS is a long grind, eh? :)

Talk to Joseph PrettyDeepWater for advice these next few months, he's right on target. The only thing I can think to say is what I am telling myself:

"PRESS ON, REFUSE TO QUIT."

SFC hit_it, I was recruited in Texas, processed in Dallas. Shipping out 20050825. At first I was mad when I posted my intro and got smoked. "I was just trying to be nice." I think that by joining up people feel like they're doing everyone a favor and expect to be congratulated and welcomed...
