Re: Introduction-Jim

I think I'm only going to sign an 11x opt. 40. I've been told that it was a bad idea to go to MEPS and not sign anything by some buddies in the DEP. They said it would be a waste of time for me to just go and refuse to sign my reserved 11x slot, which would also greatly piss off my recruiters. Shoul...

Re: Introduction-Jim

Rangers, Thanks for the input. I think the option 4 will define my decision on whether or not I enlist. I just finished reading Ranger cdwdirect 's post from awhile back regarding how MEPS and recruiters try to get guys to join different jobs then what they really aspire to be. He basically said its...

Re: Introduction-Jim

Update: There are still no option 40 contracts available. My recruiters continue to say that their won't be any until October. I'm unable to wait that long so I recently (Today) reserved an 11x contract with no option 40. My MEPS date is 7 days away. My thought process behind getting the 11x would b...

Re: Introduction-Jim

Also, it's a lot easier to get the contract as a civilian than to have to deal with it while in OSUT. Which would be the short version of what I just typed...heh. All it takes is a few frank conversations and a little persistence. It sounds bleak...but your beating heart not in ACUs is a better off...

Re: No OPT 40's available? Here's how to respond.

I tell them that they need to blow everyone else away so that the Ranger Liason finds them. That usually works. If not, then yeah, I just call down there and let them know about the exceptional soldier who wants an opt. 40 and they do the rest. Ranger goon175, Awesome, I'll inform my recruiter abou...

Re: Introduction-Jim

Rangers, thank you for the advice and input thus far. I think my next step will be to have my recruiter contact the Ranger Liaison to find out some more information on the recruiting process at OSUT. I think I have a pretty solid grasp on the whole process right now, but I'd like hear a little more ...

Re: Introduction-Jim

OK, now you have established a baseline for your Physical fitness. You need to run a lot, Never, never quit! Ranger Jim, will do. I have a lot of good sprint workouts waiting for me. By the way, you do not live near Fairfax, Virginia do you? I was accepted into George Mason University to study Arab...

Re: Introduction-Jim

Hey Jim, While most companies, as in, the vast majority of them at Sand Hill, give out option 40s....my company made it a point to not give out any. They only gave out 3 18x contracts. They straight up didn't bother to take them to the liaison to volunteer, even after the brief we got from the Rang...

Re: No OPT 40's available? Here's how to respond.

It isn't for me, because I just enlist them and get them a slot in basic via the Ranger liason, he has really come through for me on my guys. Ranger goon175, may I ask what you're able to do to get you're soldiers slots? Do you personally inform the Ranger liason about the guys looking for OPT 40s ...

Re: Introduction-Jim

I live in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, which is a suburb right outside of Philadelphia. I always wanted to be in the military but I thought I'd try college first. Now that its actually time to enroll into college I realize that I'd much rather take the military route to be a Ranger. I do not play any h...

Introduction-Jim

Hey, my name is Jim and I'm 18 years old. I'm currently a high school senior whose been looking to enlist with an 11x option 40 contract. I took the ASVAB and scored a 93 with a GT score of 129. My recruiters are telling me that their will not be 11x option 40 contracts available for quite some time...
