Re: In Need of Knowledge

Listen to your PSG...but make your own decisions. Get to know your men like they were family...but don't coddle them. Learn their names fast, schedule a one-on-one with each man as you can. You may find skillsets you never knew you had access to and leadership potentials as well. Admit when you're ...

Re: APFT Failures during EIB Testing?

I went through EIB testing in 2004. The way my unit ran it at the time, you couldn't even go through the EIB testing lanes until you had passed the PT test, shot expert on the rifle range, and passed the ruck march. It was run like a training event, so if you already had the EIB and were a grader, y...

Re: RS....Summer or Winter??

That was awesome Lefty! That reminded me of the speech Gen. Mcaffrey gave my old BN before we deployed for OIF 3 about how proud he was about how far the average joe infantry unit had come since his Nam days, and he kept referencing having to low crawl to within 15 meters of an enemy fighting positi...

Re: RS....Summer or Winter??

I had the misfortune of having to attend a summer and winter class , they both sucked. I just remember sucking more because I was always wet and sickly from the cold. You nailed that one Jim!

Re: RASP and reenlistment

When I was in Airborne school, the RIP recruiter was there and was giving guys the opportunity to go to RIP. I did not jump on the opportunity and I have always wondered how things would have turned out for me if I had. Don't put yourself in the position that leaves you wondering if you have made th...

Re: What was Ranger School like for you?

Oh yeah, getting a Gastro infection in Mountains and learning how to simaltaneously barf and shit at the same time. And then having to taste my Ranger buddies' Gastro flavored farts every five minutes for the rest of the course. Scoring a pizza and a powerade from the chow bird pilots, and then puki...

Re: What was Ranger School like for you?

The best thing I took away from the course was what I learned about myself. You will be humbled. I felt like a meer man amongst beasts. Some of the guys I met there were twice the soldier I'll ever be. Getting to work with some of the Batt boys and other guys really does make you feel good at night ...

I thought this movie sucked balls. I did like the "Bear Jew" character though.

Re: Which Martial Art?

Most guys who go to MMA class and say they are "fighters" are dumbasses. They think that they can train for a few weeks and poof, they are badasses. I started with BJJ, after getting comfortable on the ground, I started boxing. For me the ground game is alot easier, but thats because I had...

Re: Which Martial Art?

BJJ is by far the most practical, effective martial art. It has been proven time and time again. A combo of BJJ and some type of stand up training (Kickboxing, Boxing) is ideal.

P.S. I hope you were joking about the Aikido..

Recently Graduated..

I recently graduated Ranger school, so if you're going and have questions fire away.. Just to put it out there though: 1) Yes, if you go to the WTC Pre-Ranger, KH is an evil bastard (yet excellent NCO/instructor). 2) Yes, a PRC actually helps, so go if possible. 3) No, there is no magic password to ...
