It doesn't pay to steal from a RANGER . . .

I hope this is the right forum for this story. It's a true story, but it is pretty funny...from a certain perspective. In fact, some old 2/75 guys may recall the incident. Over on the SOCNET 75th Ranger forum, someone posted a thread about the old B 2/75 barracks (Bldg 3470) being torn down recently...

Re: Why DEPs should so show proper etiquette

Well in the big Army at least where I was back in the 80s, "Sarge" wasn't used... Yes...I can believe that. I enlisted in '73, right about the end of the Vietnam war. My first duty station was in Germany. Discipline in Europe at that time was atrocious; largely due to the fact that the NC...

Re: Serious disrespect, or is it just me?

West Pointers are dangerous when in a group but some can be good guys when they are separated away from the herd :-). With regards to the stories of West Pointers being indignant about being stripped of rank at RS, this is not a new phenomenon. I do know a West Pointer who retired as a LTC. He went...

Re: INTRO: Bama_Ranger

There are a good number of Rangers located in Alabama these days. Welcome... And if you cannot get in touch with any of those guys I am in Bama also. I'm from Alabama orignally, but I currently live in Columbus, Georgia; and have since I left 2/75 in '79. I went to the Ranger Department, then to 3/...

Re: INTRO: Bama_Ranger

Welcome to ArmyRanger.com Ranger. Thanks for your service to our great country. Sorry you haven't been able to escape Alabama yet. Actually...I have escaped Alabama, in a manner of speaking. I've lived in Columbus, Georgia since 1979. However, I do work across the border and I'm still a huge...

Re: Serious disrespect, or is it just me?

Let me tell you about my experience with a West Point class as a SSG. This happened in the early 80's at Camp Darby. It was a section sized combat patrol (2 squads, 2 M-60 MG tms, 26 studs total) which called for two RIs. SFC Dick Burbank was the PL grader, I was the APL grader. The studs consisted ...

Re: Why DEPs should so show proper etiquette

I'll never forget my first day at 2nd Batt. I was a SP4, fresh out of jump school, reporting in with with two Private E-2s, also fresh out of jump school. The Battalion was deployed at the time and the rear detachment NCOIC was a B Company PSG who had busted an ankle or something and had to be left ...

INTRO: Bama_Ranger

I served in 2/75 ("old scroll" days) and was one of the original NCOs in 3/75; did a couple of hitches as an R.I. as well (Camp Darby). I was a leg for my first three years in the Army (Yes, I admit it) before re-enlisting under the Ranger option. I blew out a knee and was medically discha...
