Re: Intro - He>I
Explain in under 250 words how you came to this decision and what comparisons you've made for each unit. I'm curious why you'd just completely go back and forth, especially after the straight advice of Ranger Sinjefe who has served in both types of units and advised against it. If your recruiter si...

Re: Introduction - Brent
Being an 11X in the Regular Army is perfectly honorable and, in my opinion, Airborne or not, a better choice than going into SF directly as an 18X. It isn't about you, it is about the strength of the regiment. Once in for awhile, you can re-attempt going to the RR or SF.

Re: Introduction - Brent
SF are required to speak a foreign language, but they will train you in it first. It is now part of the SFQC. Having said that, I would strongly discourage anyone to go into SF directly, regardless of age. Being in SF requires a level of maturity that people under the age of 25-26 just don't have (n...

Re: Intro - He>I
You're thinking too far in the future. My first duty assignment was 1/75. I enjoyed the hell out of it and it definitely "framed" the remainder of my military career. I left and did other things in the Army before I decided to go SF. I enjoyed the hell out of that too, but I never came in ...

Your question infers a certainty to passing RASP once you get there.

Re: Get out of the Army, or go SF ???
Don't post much, but thought I would comment on this. I did my first few years in 1/75, a few years in the regular army and my last 20 in SF. As lunch said, Batt and SF are totally different worlds. Both good, but radically different missions and dynamics. That said, I retired and took a job with DO...

I don't post much, but thought I would say welcome. I, too, never attended ranger school, but jumped into Grenada with 1/75. Not anywhere near your test of fire, but I have always felt a little of what you so eloquently described. I will say this, Of the 26 years I spent in before I retired, 23 was ...

This guy Harris is all over Professional Soldiers.com He has WAY too many inconsistencies in his stories, his DD214s and diplomas don't match (his SFQC diploma shows him attending a 4 month long 18D course), he was never in 7th SFGA as he says in his book "Mi Vida' http://www.mivida2010.com/&qu...
