Re: Fresh Meat
does not sound like a Ranger medic at all. Not one bit. All Ranger medics are SOCM grads, and are very capable individuals, both medically and tactically. "non combatants" ..... give me a fucking break.

Re: opt 11x airborne opt 40 With med waiver
Just b/c MEPS doesn't give you an airborne phys, doesn't mean you can't volunteer for airborne or Ranger in OSUT and just get an abn phys done there. The docs in the Army are much more leniant than the docs at MEPS.

Re: Standard Ranger Hair Cut?
I don't think the point is to keep your hair as long as possible, the point is to look professional. If you want to be treated as a professional, you better look like one.

Re: Standard Ranger Hair Cut?
The days of the high and tight/mohawk are far gone. The standard is AR 670-1, although the average big army soldier may find that Regiments interpretation of that particular regulation to be a bit different than the rest of the Army's.

Service is a privilege, not a right. You need to make yourself competitive to stay in, or get back in these days.

In that case, you will have to go to RASP, pre-SOCM, and SOCM. Not an easy road, academicaly or physically.

Re: Intro Savagemedic
Why were you dropped from the Q? The pipeline for a Ranger Medic isn't exactly easy. Of course if you have already completed SOCM (assuming you went through the Q as an 18D candidate), then you are ahead of the game.
You must have selection courses down to a science by now!

If he is just graduating SOCM, than I assume that means he will be a new medic in batt? They may want him to learn his job first before taking a few months off to go do pre-scuba and CDQC. And then again, the worst they can say is 'no', right? I do know that just about anyone who asked for it as a r...

You can enlist as long as you are enrolled for 15 credits of 100 level courses or higher, you just can't ship until after you finish the semester and earn those credits.

Re: I read the sticky but had just one little comment or que
Your attitude is not appreciated nor warrented. If you want to be treated like a professional, then act like one. If you really want the best SOF fit based off of your prior experience, then Civil Affairs would be the way to go based on your missionary experience. Not what you were expecting? The av...

You were strung along on some things (higher you score = less jobs? wtf?), other things were true (like the FY thing, it in fact does end on Sept. 15th for USAREC). You have what you need now though, focus on getting your PT up, staying out of trouble, and getting promoted to PFC before you leave. E...

As a 38B you very well may end up attached to Ranger strike force overseas, must be a very exciting career move for you! Welcome to the site, and thanks for volunteering to do a job I would never have the patience to do!
