Re: Browning Hi power

How old is it? Any old firearm retains more value if it is left as original as possible. I've got one my old man left me that he "liberated" from a baddy in Nam. Nice little pistol. If you don't care and are going to use it as a carry gun, I can see getting some work done on it, but if you...

Re: Intro Marcus

Hold out for what YOU want buddy. When I first enlisted, I was told I couldn't get an airborne Infantry contract, and I'll be g'damned if I was NOT going to be airborne, seeing as how gramps and dad were airborne. The recruiter dude said "Well, you can be a radio operator with an airborne contr...

To our Nam Rangers....

Waaaaay back in the day when I was a wee lad in Battalion and we had our first Ranger Rendezvous I got the honor and privilege of meeting THEM. Those gallant upstanding bad-ass Americans who gave us our lineage and filled a chapter of Ranger, and American warrior, history. The Ranger veterans. There...

Re: Ranger School without Option 40?

I have to disagree with this statement. It smacks of blaming others for one's own failures and leaves "personal responsibility" out of the equation. There is merit in his brother's sentiment as some chain of commands are more supportive of their men, and encourage them to excel, while oth...

Re: Ranger School without Option 40?

Your final unit of assignment will determine your chances of earning a Ranger school slot. I would highly recommend that you do NOT enlist UNTIL you get at least an airborne Infantry contract. That's up to you, but from my experience, there is a vastly, and I mean HUGE difference in the mindset of t...

Re: Let's Talk Bombs

Pray tell, how does a colonel who was then promoted to brigadier general, who spent barely a year on the Western Front, who served as chief of staff and then as an infantry division CO, win 9 of this nation's highest medals for valor? I'll tell you how: he wrote up all the citations himself, then h...

Re: What is your favorite weapon of all time?

Personal rifle: M4 series. Light weight, compact, accurate enough, more accurate with better ammo, easy to accessorize. Personal hand gun: 1911 series in .45ACP. No other handgun is as customizable, and no other handgun can have the sweet trigger one can get with a 1911. Accurate enough to beat out,...

Re: FN SCAR opinions

Thank you for the information. The best new prices I have been quoted are $2285 for the SCAR 5.56 and $2425 for the SCAR 7.62.

Meh...

I'd rather get an M4 variant for under a K and sink the rest in a good optic. But I have been using a CAR/M4 for eons and do admit a little bias...
