Re: Ketamine

Just to give you a little knowledge on it, its been used by Ranger Medics for years. Every Ranger medic is carrying and proficient in the use of ketamine. Its a great drug for a plethora of reasons. Its a dissociative anesthetic; so less to no memory of the event (less traumatic for the patient). E...

Re: Ketamine

I think a small amount of midazolam should be given to all patients. But, if you give a larger dose of ketamine, I do not think there is as much concern due to the sedation. I think the midlevel amounts cause the most problems.

Re: Ketamine

I was trying to generate discussion on pain management in both the military and EMS sector. This forum is a bit stale and I was thinking that talking about relevant issues in pre-hospital medicine might help. It is not about being published, more about offering folks something to talk about and with...

Re: IFAK Carry

If you carry everything that the CoTCCC carries you will be good. You can use 12G, it is just more difficult to push through the tissue, just make sure it is at least 3.25 inches in length.

Re: Keeping EMT

We have some really great stuff coming. We have developed a course that will blow everything you have seen out of the water. MTF soon. EMT is sticking around, but we have something better. Our battalion PA told us we were the last group to be sent. Whether they go through with that is yet to be seen...

Re: Keeping EMT

Although it is possible for you to keep you EMT-B certification current, it is very possible that you will not get the opportunity to maintain it due to OPTEMPO and training requirements. Plus, since you seemed to be focused on yourself instead of what you can do for the unit, I am not sure I would ...

To answer your other questions, do not worry about how many are out there for right now. No, TCR do not interfere with rotations.

Re: Knee Pain

What you have is an overuse injury. I've had a many times in my career and after every suck school. Get it checked, get it documented and get it taken care of. It's not going to get better with age. I know it's the bad ass thing to do, suck it up and drive on but what's not bad ass is knee reconstr...

From my response, I think you have your answer. I cannot believe you actually would admit to it, suck it up and drive on.
