Good advice Ranger Timmy. These sound like 60/120s Sprint/jog respectively. I would encourage always running beyond 2 miles when trainning. Beginers should shoot for at least 3 miles. This prepares the body for a longer distance and when the APFT arrives your body will be able to breeze through the ...

Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) Course
Dose anyone have a link to information about the current program at JSOMTC?
I was wondering what training our Ranger medics go through today prior to being assigned to BN.

Thanks for your service Doc. When I was in Bn we had an E-5 tabless medic come to us from Korea. So it is possible to get to BN without being born there. However, you will have a stigma to overcome. BN is very competitive and folks are a bit weary towards outsiders. Especially those who don’t have...

Ok stud at age 21 you score is good with the exception of you PUs (see above). When doing PUs you only have to come parallel to the ground. Correction: What I meant to say was that your elbows must be parallel to your chest in the down position, not necessarily parallel to the ground. Another Range...

I administered my own fitness test and for lack of a better word I sucked. My upper body strength needs considerable work compared to my other scores. I think my main problem was going from the style pushups I had used to do, and then doing military ones touching my chest to the ground. Needless to...

I apologize most sincerely for not respecting the demands you Rangers set forth. My mom just went through her 3rd divorce and we're on the move again. No excuses though, if I could have a basic idea of what to do for PT that you guys would like to see I'll do it ASAP. I looked around for a bit but ...

Rick, If a 18 y/o stud can set his goal and become a Ranger then a man who has been around the block a few times can do so as well. Most of us when we got to BN were young who had 30 year olds smoking us to the ground (PSGs and 1SGs). You will need to drop 2 minutes on your run though. If you can en...
