Thanks all for the congrats. It's pretty surreal being done, but it's a great feeling.
Jim, you'll probably notice the main difference is an increased amount of food, something they've implemented to make sure we're combat effective the day we get out of school. Still, in the end around 30% of the ...

Ranger School Class 06-08
Just wanted to let everyone know that I graduated Ranger School today along with 235 other Rangers out of a starting class size of 463. I kept a journal through school, much like the one posted in the "About Ranger School" forum that I'm going to type up and post soon for anyone interested in a more ...

There are a LOT of panhandlers... no wait, scratch that.. BUMS, they are just BUMS.. living in New Haven. Connecticut has a some pretty generous social welfare programs and you can survive pretty well on no income. They like this city in particular because Yalies are ripe pickins. (The new freshman ...

That's not surprising when they drop the pullup requirement and don't enforce the PT test standards at Airborne School. I saw people having to rest at 10 pushups, yet somehow managing to have 32 more half assed pushups counted. The BC openly admitted to my buddy that all he cared about was numbers ...

Hmmm. I know manning the force is a "rock and hard place" scenario. But it never bodes well to drop the standards.
Ran into a platoon sergeant at BWI who was in the Division at the same time as me (he got out for seven years, and re-enlisted recently). He was telling me they were getting kids who ...

I know that when they started the whole state quarter series, one of the stated goals of the Treasury was to get people to collect them, and thus take them out of circulation. Though they've been trying to push this dollar coin thing for a while, the "series" and collectable nature of this specific ...

I appreciate the replies so far. Ranger Phantom, I'd rather hear your honest opinion, harsh or not, than some lukewarm BS. Thanks for the straightforward reply. If you don't mind me asking, is there anything that a fresh 2LT can do (besides learn as much as possible at RS and RSLC) to mitigate what ...

Opinions/Info on F CO, 51st IN, 525th BfSB
I just found out that my first assignment after completing my initial training will be to the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade out of Bragg. I got in touch with the CO of F CO, 51st IN (LRS)(Airborne), and he said all 11A's in the brigade are in his Company.

Brother, that wasn't meant to imply that anyone who goes there is gay. I should have said that Yale, and New Haven in general is a very gay-tolerant environment. There have been gay students at Yale for decades, long before anyone on this board was born. Even the library is named for a benefactor ...

I know the question's been answered already, but since we're talking about my alma mater here I thought I'd jump in. The Herald is an extremely agenda driven paper, but it's generally factually correct and well researched, so I wouldn't peg them for buying a whole line of BS without checking some ...
