Introduction

Post by michael3010 »

My name is Michael, I am a 21 year old college student that will be joining the DEP program on Thursday. I have 60 college credit hours. If all goes well, I will be heading to basic sometime in May. I will sign a contract for 11x with option 40.

I have done much research concerning the Rangers, and I am very eager to jump in the mix.

I have a couple of questions that I am sure the Rangers on this website can assist in answering because of the first hand experience.

1st Question: Would it be possible to take any college classes while in a Ranger Battalion? If so, how much free time would you have during a week to actually study?

2nd Question: Are the Ranger Battalions so full with 11Bs that the Army is making it extremely difficult for this MOS to reach the battalion? If so, then would enlisting with a different MOS (but still including airborne and RIP in the contract) help in reaching a battalion faster?

If any Ranger could post back and inform me on these questions, then I would be most appreciative. Thank you.

PM Kilted Heathen... He is the site information personel. He loves it when you just drop him a line and start asking him all kinds of questions, especially if you haven't had the time to, you know research them with the search button yourself. He really loves this stuff. But the trick is... You have to respect his "Irish Heritage" and pay homage to the Irish and all things Irish in your PM. Something like, "Hey, you Paddy Irish Cu.. Pull that kilt up and do some research for me, between making me some potato soup."

This will either get you help or beat, I actually don't remember....
