I have enjoyed reading the many points of view, and opinions from the Rangers, family members and hopefuls on this site, but it struck me that there are a lot of questions like "what is a Ranger?", "What does it mean to be a ranger?", "What am I/my son getting into?".
I have also seen many answers, all excellent, but none that encompass the entirety. I am also feeling the need for a little HOOAH check.
When I think of my time in Battalion, and remember what it is I am still looking for, I realize that the Creed sums it all up. It doesn't matter how much fun the training is, or how far we can advance our careers. It is the Creed, and living up to it that provides us with the challenge we need.

The Ranger Creed becomes an integral part of every Ranger. We all memorized it, and we all lived it. If there was ever a serious brain malfunction and the creed was not followed, the miscreant would be very quickly dismissed from the battalion.
There are many words within the creed, and all are important, but to me, only three phrases stand out, and define the Ranger mentality.
