Where do Rangers go when they are done being Rangers

Three phases and 62 days of hell. This section named in honor of MAJ John Whyte who was taken from us on 04/17/05.

Let me try this.

The 75th is a unit. Just like units in the rest of the army. When guys leave the 75th they usually put in for transfers to another unit. If you see someone without anything else listed, then he did his time and got out.

When a Ranger goes to another unit, he is no longer a "Ranger". He's whatever that unit is. If he completed Ranger School and was awarded the tab he will wear that tab on his uniform always.

If ya have any more questions just ask.

Usually that is the length of one enlistment.

When I left 2/75, I went through the SF Qualification Course, then to 1st Special Forces Group. However, as my time in the Ranger Regiment was the most enjoyable from my time in the service, that is what I have the greatest affinity for, or sense of brotherhood for.

The Ranger Creed is something that becomes a part of you, in everything you do. That doesn't stop once you leave the Ranger Regiment. It's a life-changing experience. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger.

Ranger Spartan, what were the main differences between the 1st Special Forces Group and the 75th Ranger Regiment? Also why did you enjoy the Rangers more?

Ranger Spartan:

What sort of time frame was required to jump from the 75th to SF? Were you able to complete all of this inside of one enlistment, or was it upwards of the 5-6 years required for an 18x contract?

Also, would any Ranger be willing to fathom a guess as to how many Rangers serve only one tour of duty, versus continue on for additional tours?

And finally... this may be a ridiculous question, but I was not able to come across the answer in my readings... are enlisted Rangers able to apply for OCS?

Thanks!

I went on the last year of my initial (and only) term of enlistment. At that time - 1987 - you were required to have a specific amount of time on your enlistment remaining and I only had to extend my initial term of service to have the correct years and months left in order to attend the training and for the assignment to a Special Forces Group.

My guess would be between 45-60% serve an intial term and depart the service afterwards.

Yes they are.

Ranger Kilted Heathen,

Ranger Spartan's avatar was flashing a frame of porn every minute or so. In the movie "Fight Club," Brad Pitt's character splices frames of pornography into a kiddie film. The same frames of porn can be found spliced into "Fight Club" itself, for only a split second. Amberbock, to answer the question.
