You might consider MOS 12B, Combat Engineer, Option 40. It is a skill needed in the Ranger Regiment as well as SF. Something to consider. Never, never quit!

Ranger Jim,
I will look into that. I have researched it a bit now and it sounds like it's right down my alley, but the only problem is, I've read a few posts saying that sometimes combat engineers don't get involved much with DA stuff.. which, since the Ranger Regiment is the best DA unit our military offers, is a big part of the reason I wanted to become a Ranger. I'm not sure how much truth there is to this, since it seems squads would always have a demolitions expert, but I'm not positive. I'll do some more research. Thank you for the tip Ranger Jim, I appreciate it.

Ranger Jim,

I talked to my recruiter the other day, and he said come June we could go ahead and begin the process. I'm anxious to finally get the ball rolling. In the meantime I'm going to keep focusing on improving my running. I'm not a naturally good runner but in the long run hard work always beats talent alone.

Ranger Jim,

Just got back from a spring break trip to Tennessee, where I did some hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Some of the views are incredible. As far as progress with my recruiter, there really hasn't been any. I've spoken to 3 different recruiters so far and basically what I've gathered is that I just have to wait until around June to get things started regarding MEPS and my waivers. I've been doing research and at this point crossing my fingers that everything will go through fine once we get it started. I want this BAD. I think about it multiple times every day, and have been for at least the past year and a half or more. I'm determined to do anything it takes. As far as my PT, lately I've been focusing on my running. Running is definitely my weakest link, so I've been dedicating at least 4 days a week just for running, while swimming once a week and also doing some crossfit-style bodyweight workouts in between to keep my push/sit/pull at 90/90/20 or better. I've also started doing yoga occasionally to keep my body limber. Basically, from now until June it looks like I'll be dedicated solely on school work and PTing myself to death.

My push/pull/sit scores stayed about the same, but my run was almost an entire minute faster than my last test, so I'm happy with the progress for now. I'm still aiming to get back down to less than 13 minutes though, so there's still a lot of work to be done. I'll post another test in a few weeks.

Yes, I have memorized it for the most part, but I wont lie, it's tough to recite it out loud. I don't know it well enough yet to recite it all the way through without missing something or getting caught up. The "G" stanza is tough. I'll still continue to recite it until it's fluent. Right now it's set as my computer wallpaper so I see it and read it a lot.
