Sitrep- Marlurker

Post by Marlurker »

Rangers, there is no excuse for my absence and lack of communication on this forum as of late. I did not make the time hack for my task list and i have beat my face for that one.

However i do have a sitrep for you all.

I left for osut on the 16th of september of 2014. 30th AG was probably the worst part of the IET portion of my training. Waiting in long lines with no sleep is harder than staying up pulling security or staying up during an FTX. OSUT was a breeze and i learned quite a bit in my 14 weeks at the Ft. Benning school for boys. Everyone asks for advice when going to OSUT and you usually see the same answer, just do what you’re told. This is incredibly true. You have the easiest job in the world, be in the right uniform, in the right place, and at the right time. All you have to do is do what you’re told. You dont have to think outside of the box. You just have to execute.

On the 6th of february I completed Basic Airborne training and did my 5 jumps. This is probably the most fun ive ever had in the army. Besides waiting in the harness shed for the weather to clear. Feet and knees together, don't drop the static line.

On the 9th of February i entered Pre-RASP. Pre-RASP is the most boring thing ive done in my training thus far. We did no PT, stood on rocks in front of the barracks until 1600 then got released. Push through these few weeks, they are meant to make you think and doubt yourself. PT by yourself and dont quit. By the end of Pre-Rasp we had 146 canidates and we set off for RASP on the 20th.

At the start of RASP my APFT was as follows

Pushups- 58
situps-79
2mile- 12:50
pullups- 6
5 mile- 35:10

Pre- RASP and Airborne school hurt my pushups quite a bit.

I wont describe the day to day events of the 1st week but i will say that the Doughboy run is a gut check that was well needed for some men in my class. By then end of my first week Cole range was looming over us.

Cole Range was one of those things that I cannot explain, I cannot offer advice, and I cannot say was the easiest, or the hardest thing ive ever done. It was a challenge that i accepted with optimissim and respect. Ive never felt quite as accomplished as when I finally got on the bus for the barracks after Cole Range. The only word of advice I could possibly give anyone is the same as what you’ve been told since being on this site. Do. Not. Quit.

And this is where I am at present Rangers. I start RFR this week as well as our Airborne operation. I am ready and prepared for any challenge that arises through out these next 6 weeks.

Negative Ranger Jim, I don't believe there are any other mentees. My expected graduation date is the 17th of April.
