Twisted risers

Post by dan »

It was my first chopper blast. When my parachute opened I was upside down and had my foot all tangled up in my suspension line above one of my risers. I'm looking up at the ground and down at my canopy. Thank God it was a day jump or I really would have freaked out. I looked around at every one else and I wasn't coming down any faster than they were. I looked at my foot and the suspension lines looked like a ball of yarn with my foot in the middle of it.
I'm in full panic mode and started kicking my foot trying to get it loose and the closer I got to the ground harder I was trying to get it untangled so I didn't have to land on my head. When I finally got my foot out and fell upright. My risers were twisted. I had flipped completely over in it.
