Unfortunately, I'm already married so Canadian citizenship is not really an effective option. I did not live through the 70's. However, I do take comfort in your experience and confidence in such matters.

I was not referring to this administration or the state of this country whatsoever. My opinion is that we have not had leadership like Reagan since. He made his mistakes but when he spoke, nations around the world listened. He brought this country together after the failed Carter administration. I do not think this country has the heart or back bone to elect another Reagan. From what I can see, there is no one close to him in either party at this time either.

One of the things that let us survive the 70s was the American public. Reagan won in a landslide. Today a candidate like Reagan would be massacred by the media before he ever got to the primaries. They would tear him up so bad there would be Rangers on here making fun of him and calling him bat shit insane and extreme.

Also today half the country is on some sort of government assistance, and it does not matter what the democrat does, they will vote for him or her, so they could keep Santa Claus coming.

I'm not sure about our future. Ironically Canada is reversing their policies, and they may actually end up more conservative than the US in the future.
