Now I'm gonna have to watch The Eagle. Even though I normally end up rooting for the British Barbarians in those flicks.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

For all your Planet of the Apes fans out there, this was a well made movie with some interesting twists to the original story. As with the remake of Star Trek, this movie will allow the Series to move in different directions. The CGI is well done and the "apes" actually look good and pretty real. There are plenty of references to the original movies see if you can pick them out.

Enjoy.

It seems that there is no original thought in Hollywood anymore! Nothing but sequels and remakes.

It's been a long time since the original, maybe the original director can do big things with this. He already has the original in his veins to work off of. I would like to see a remake of a Heston classic like the Omega Man, maybe with Gerard Butler?
They just did a remake of Omega Man a few years ago... it was "I am Legend". Ironically Omega Man was a remake of "The Last Man on Earth", starring Vincent Price in the lead role. The whole thing came from a book written in the 1950s called "I am Legend"

I love that book. I am firmly of the opinion that the Vincent Price movie is far superior to the other two. Last Man on Earth is a fucking classic.

Watched a movie last night called "Age of Heroes" about an 8 man British Commando Tm conducting an assault of a Nazi radar station in Norway.

Enjoyed it, made recently, and was pretty good.

Guy was pretty good at this. I learned he also wrote several of the more memorable Twilight Zone episodes, to include "Nightmare at 20,000 feet"... the one that had William Shatner seeing the gremiln tear apart the plane.

If you look into it, you'll find that Matheson was a pretty prolific writer. MANY of his short stories and novels were adapted into movies, some of whom (like NOTLD) see themselves as homages but are really just loosely interpreted. The guy is a legend in the horror community.
