I believe that if the oil companies can not make any more than .08 cents on the dollar, then neither should the gov't be able to tax more than .08 cents per gallon in all fairness to the public (me). That sounds more like fair share.

I read an article just two days ago about this Australian couple that travels the world setting records, lately in their 2012 passat TDI.
The trip was similar to mine from NY to visiting Ranger friends in Houston area. My trip was generally 1800 miles going & 1800 miles coming. I would have used 6+ tanks per trip. Well this Australian couple trip was from Sterling, Va to Houston 1623.1 miles but they made the trip on just one tank averaging 84.1 mpg - passat does have a larger tank than mine in that it is 18.5 gal & mine is but 12 gal. I use cruise control & drive at 59 mph and get 24+ mpg. I come no where near what the Australian couple achieve.
Oh, & I drive a 2004 Honda Element. 2 or 3 years ago Bravo57 told me (in Texas) he wouldn't want his wife seen driving my vehicle. I thought it was by far one of the greatest insults to me & I was proud to have Bravo57 insult me. It's does fits all my camping gear easily.
