Hello Rangers,
My name is Joe and I'm 22 years old, currently Dep'd in as 11x with an option 40. Currently I'm working as a mechanic and I just can't see myself doing this for the rest of my life. I want to do something meaningful, something that will challenge me and push me to find out who I really am and what I'm capable of. That is why I requested an option 40 and that is why I am here, I'm seeking to learn as much as possible and prepare myself as best I can for the future challenges ahead of me.
As of right now the only PT test I've taken was at the recruiting station a little over a month ago.
Pushups: 75
Situps: 68
2 mile: 15:30
My scores definitely need improvements which I am working on as much as possible.
Thank you Rangers for helping me with all the great information on this site, I will take full advantage of everything you offer here.

Well, Joe, a man has only one opportunity to create a favorable initial impression. So far you seem to be doing well enough. If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We take pride in the fine young Rangers who have passed through this site on their life journey. As you noted, you do need to raise your PT standards. Most of the questions have been addressed. The search feature (located to the top right of this page) is your friend. I reserve judgement. Never, never quit!

Welcome. You don't have a lot of time, summer'll go by fast and your ship date will arrive before you know it. You better get that run time down to at least 12minutes or better.
Check out the Physical Fitness Forums for help and advice on shaving that time down. At the stage of the game you should be running every single day, maybe even twice a day.
Also don't forget to work on pull-ups everyday, you'll be required to do them perfectly, and you'll end up doing hundreds of them. Get it done early and save yourself some pain and/or disappointment.

Re: Intro - Joe
Welcome Joe, a good way to improve run times is a run, sprint, run worked into your weekly schedule. If you have access to a track try walking a 1/4 lap, jogging a 1/4 and sprinting a 1/2. Do this 8x then switch to walking a 1/4 jogging a 1/2 and sprinting a lap x8. If you have access to a track then there should be stairs there in the stands. Run up and down those 20 or 30 times. Time yourself on all of these events and test yourself same time each week. If you don't puke or feel like your gonna then push harder. Make sure you are staying well hydrated. CARDIO! CARDIO! CARDIO!
Civilians, will never understand us. Our desire to be at the worst possible place at the exact wrong time because we hope to make a difference even if it costs us our lives, are incomprehensible to them. And yet it is so. Our prayer is not, please God, let it happen on my day off; but please God, don't let me screw this up.
