Sitrep-Runna22
Good Evening Rangers,
On Thursday I went to MEPS, killed the physical and confirmed my 11x Option 40. I ship on 20111101. This will give me plenty of time to train up for RASP 1. My Recruiter and I tried to get a 68W option 40, but their is nothing in the medical field for the near future. Even with a 94 on the ASVAB with a GT of 124 and a CO of 126. There was however a 35F Option 40, which is apparently extremely rare. There are also no signing bonuses left, like that matters.
To put it in perspective of how quickly the 11x Option 40 slots go, I initially had started my reservation at the recruiting station at 0945. I had to go to my high school and pick up my transcript. After waiting for the lady to get my transcript, I got back to the recruiting station at 1100. There was then 11 slots left. After waiting on hold with the ROC for 20 minutes to find out that there are no medical field enlistments, we reloaded the page. There were 4 left.
I am in the West Point, NY area. I am not being picky but if there is a Ranger in the area that would be great.

Re: Sitrep-Runna22
you got a 35F with an opt. 40?
They must have JUST started attaching that option to that MOS.....

Yes Ranger Goon175, I had looked around this site and saw how many DEP's had trouble going that route... apparently as of 31 Mar when I put my reservation down with my recruiter there were 7 35F Option 40's.

I am a perfectionist Ranger KW Driver and want to practice to the highest level whatever I can during my almost 7 moth DEP. I want to be the very best, which is the main reason I want to put this life on hold and be part of the Regiment. If I'm crazy ok, but it would be nice.

Re: Sitrep-Runna22
You would be better suited by spending your time doing PT and getting on AKO and using your free access to Rosetta Stone to learn a language native to one of the regions we are currently fighting in rather than going to the range wasting time and money plinking away with an AR.
Besides, if you wanted to be a shooter, you would have taken 11x opt. 40. You chose to be an intel analyst, so if I were you I would focus on being the best intel analyst you can be. Learning the language and culture of those we persue would be a great start for a Future Soldier that is going that route.

Roger That Ranger Goon175 and Ranger Jim. I did enlist 11x Option 40. That is great to know that I have free acess to Rosetta Stone, something I will definitely take advantage of.

Re: Sitrep-Runna22
You would actually be better off waiting until you begin AIT to worry about your marksmanship. Fewer bad habits to undo. The best shooter we had in my AIT unit had never touched a gun before AIT.

Re: Sitrep-Runna22
so here's the lesson, you looked like you were trying to sneak into compliance, vs. owning your mistake.
you'll make mistakes. own them, learn from them and don't repeat them. you'll be respected if you have integrity. you'll be shunned if you come across as a conniving cheat.
Which Standing Order and Stanza cover these concepts?

Thank you Ranger KWDriver, lesson learned. These concepts are covered in the 2nd General Order and the 4th stanza of the Ranger Creed.

I didn't ask for a general order, I asked for a Standing Order. There's 19.
Explain why you chose the fourth stanza.
