Maybe not a leg after all...
I just found out that my squadron has the money to send me to airborne school, but I have to do the legwork to get the slot and provide a justification for me to go. I want to go to airborne before I go to ranger, so I can get more out of ranger school. I can't find anything on RTB web site concerning why a student should be jump qualified prior to RS, nor can I find anything in the Ranger Handbook saying that a ranger student should be jump qualified. Is there any paper out there that provides a justification for me being airborne qualified before I go to ranger school that I can show my commander? I would really like to not be a leg. Thank you.

I do want to go to airborne first, however I need to have it on paper somewhere as to why I should go to airborne school so I can go to my commander and provide justification for me going. Is there an army OI that states somewhere "having airborne school is beneficial to the ranger student", etc.? Thanks again for any help!

Of all the possible schools that a combat arms soldier may have the oportunity to attend, Airborne school is definitely the closest thing to a 3-week leave you can get. It's a total joke. The biggest obstacle for your average recent OSUT graduate is going wild on the new-found freedom and getting popped for underage drinking or, god forbid, an FTR. Oh, yeah, fon't fall for the boot-shining scam the black hats are gonna be advertising. Shine your own fucking boots.

I'm not sure if this is the same with all the units on post, but my company is offering RS to certain individuals and promising to send them to airborne AFTER completion of RS. anyone else ever heard of this?
