Labor Day

Post by F8 »

I'll be at Ranger School during Labor Day next month. Do we have a day of rest, continued training, anyone know or have an idea?

On Labor Day they will shut the school down. You will be brought to the nearest town....I.E. Columbus, and given a Hotel voucher/food voucher good for that one night.

You aren't allowed to drive though while you are in any portion of Ranger School, which is why they have to take you to the town. They will also be there sometime during the middle of the afternoon on the next day to pick you up.

I would start looking NOW to make a hotel reservation in whichever hotel you want to stay in, because you are going to have to fight with all of the other Ranger students and if there is a Basic Training Graduation during that time, you will also have to compete with them for the good hotels.

Also, if you have a girlfriend or someone????(I saw you were in the Navy).....Maybe they can make plans to come and see you during the break.

Good luck there.

You should get Labor day off as well as Sundays, unless you are a seventh day-adventist in which case you will get Saturdays off but if you are Jewish you can stop patrolling at sundown on Friday night. This really gets confusing when you are the PL and are trying to plan for you mission but half of your guys have the day off. Usually when this happens the RIs just call an admin halt and then they bring out the cake and ice scream and the Barney videos. Perhaps you should ask to see the training schedule when you get there so you can better plan your free time.

Look everybody its Steve the Pirate.

Well, it was kind of a dumb question.

They don't shut down suck school for nothing. The only form of a break that you will get during the entire time, is church, and that is only about 20 minutes. Everybody becomes Roman Catholic during Ranger School, because you get a piece of bread for communion.

Other than that, you don't get crap.

Now if you are there due to recycles during Christmas......then you will get Christmas Exodus. Something that has been in place for years and years. During Christmas Exodus.....I think......The class that starts Suck School at the beginning of November will be the last class that starts until Jan. When that class finishes Mountains, they are shipped back to Benning.

At which point they are released to fly home for the Holidays for 2 weeks. This also allows the RI's a chance to go home for the Holidays.

If you are a Ranger student in this class, you are a lucky sonofabitch.

I used to always try to send my Privates during this class, because after Mountains, you get to go home and get food back in your body, which makes Florida a breeze.

Other than that, there is nothing. You are in suck school, and there aren't any holidays.

The reason that I answered you in a smart ass manner, is because your question was so asinine, that I hoped you were kidding. I guess you weren't.

During planning, you might want to check the Short--Blue Bird Annex.

Good luck in school. It isn't going to be any fun.

School sucks that is all there is too it. The reason we chose to answer in a smart ass way is because as privates all we wanted to do was get our tab. It is something that loomed over our heads on a daily basis. Maybe we had a better idea about what school was about because of our background but your question came off as pretty fucked up to us. I mean this is a school where they say you train on average 20 hours a day and you are asking about getting off for a holiday. As far as the 20 hours a day there were quite a few nights where we walked until the sun came up. You will be lucky if you get to a patrol base before 0300 and try to catch a little shut eye while maintaining security much less get holidays off.
It is probably just the fact that most of us were told not to come back to BN without our Tabs and that we were so focused on acheving that goal that we didn't worry about days off.

I actually believed what Ranger Dublo said for some odd reason...

Down and knocking them out for gullibility.

Who the fuck wants a day off!!?? After about day three, after I had gotten "THE POINT", all I wanted to do was to go the fuck back home to Savannah. And the fastest way to do that was through Florida. I didn't want a day off, because that is just that much longer until I got to Florida, and then back home.

Fuck a bunch of days off. If you want days off, even now, you ain't got your mind right yet, to the point that your are ready for school. Show up, give 100% and then some, get your shit, then go home. Days off are for soft skills and pussies.

Maybe. I caught up with a buddy of mine that worked in PAC when I got to Florida. He recycled every phase. It takes a hard man to go through stupid school twice!
