Vector Intro

Post by vector »

Rangers,

I'm a brand new Infantry 2LT currently doing gold bar recruiting at Iowa State until I start IBOLC in July followed by Ranger School. After I complete my training I'll be heading off to Fort Riley, which I'm not too excited about because I was hoping the Army would take me out of the midwest. I'm here to soak up as much knowledge as I can before I get to Ranger School, because if I can't use all available resources to prepare myself how can I expect to prepare my soldiers.

Ranger ZoneIV I know what you are saying, although it was not my first choice I am still happy with it. One of my best friends from ROTC, an armor guy, just arrived there a few weeks ago and one of my former instructors will be there by the time I arrive so I will be in good company. Also I am very thankful for my first choice of branch I know many others who would give anything to have it. Next to commissioning day, the day I received my branch was one of the greatest days of my life, so far.

As for prep for Ranger School pull ups are my week point so I'm heavily working on those. After a month I am able to just barely do the 6 but in between each repetition I hang fully extended for around 5 seconds, this is from not being able to do two before the month. I also do PT 4 days a week with the cadets and although I have no real experience with active Army PT I assume our program is solid based on the average APFT scores are 280s and I usually get above 290, but never a 300. Once school starts winding down I'll have time to work on rucking.

If there's any advice you can give for my prep that isn't already on the forum I am all ears. I thank you all for your support and commitment to defending this country.

Welcome young 2LT. Getting your crossed rifles and getting your bars are two great events. They pale in comparison to getting your tab. Best of luck to you.
