Intro
Hey all. I'm a Specialist right now in the Infantry. Currently deployed to Iraq with a mechanized unit. I'm wanting to go to RIP when I get back but no one in my battalion knows how to get me there. They told me to "Google" it. Yeah...it's that bad. I've been told that a 4687 might not work because I'm in a mechanized unit and they don't get hardly any slots offered to them for RIP. Also, I talked to my battalion's reenlistment dude and he said I can't reenlist to go to RIP but I could reenlist to go to the 75th Regiment and I would get Airborne School and RIP along the way. It sounds shady to me.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rangers.

Re: Intro
A 4687 definitely won't work, but a 4187 might. Read the rules and FAQs. You will probably find the answers to all of your questions. By the way, the members of this board do like being referred to as "all" Welcome and thanks for your service.

Re: Intro
I apologize. I meant a 4187. I've talked to my chain of command about that and they are telling me that it mostly will now work because of being in a mechanized unit.
I've searched this forum and others and I can't find anyone else that has had this problem. I know there has to be someone out there. I'm trying to determine all my paths of getting there. Thanks, Rangers.

Thank you for the replys. So, if I reenlist for 75th Ranger Regiment, they'll send me to airborne and RIP before I get there?

Re: Intro
FYI - It is no longer RIP. It is now RASP - Ranger Assessment and Selection Program and is 8 weeks long.

Re: Intro
You have probably already figured out this part but PT your ass off & get your feet toughened up. You get weaker in jump school & there's no slack in RASP, pardon the pun but you'll hit the ground runnng.
Don't let the weaklings who lack the courage to try or the naysayers around you hold you back, just get it done. It's worth it.

Re: Intro
Roger Ranger K.Ingraham.
Thank you for the advice and replies. It does seem like everyone I talk to talks shit when I say I'm going to reenlist to go to 75th Ranger Regiment. They say, "Oh, you just want to be hooah," and shit like that. Very fucking annoying.
Anyways, I go to do a Ranger physical sometime this week, whenever I can get a flight to a bigger FOB. Then, after I come back, I'll do the actual reenlisting.
Again thanks for the replies and advice, Rangers.

Even if you are a DEP just going in, you hear the same crap. They STFU pretty quick when you come around sporting a Scroll.
