Entering Perimeter.

Post by Reiver »

Retired Regular Army. 30 for pay; 28 years, 10 months, 17 days Active Service.
Beirut, Salvador, Panama, Iraq, Kinshasa, Mogadishu, Sarajevo, Iraq, Afghanistan.

Company B, 2d Battalion (Ranger) 75th Infantry, Ft Lewis, WA; 1976-79
MOS: 13E, became 13F during RGR course, when new MOS created.
Co Cdr's: Dubik, Maher, McCreight, Bowra
ETS'd: Sep 79 (didn't take)

Re-up'd 1980. FSHTX for Medical Training.
Signed into Ft Bragg, NC; April 1981. 57th Medical Detachment (Helicopter Ambulance), Flight Medic, first MFO-Sinai iteration; great memory of CSM Bruce Pross, 1-505 PIR (known from 2-75) confronting me in southern Mess over long hair & moustache (Hey, I was attached to an ANZAC Helo unit!).
MOS Immaterial, 1983-2006. Retired from Ft Bragg, 01 Oct 2006.

Intermittant "Consulting" since.

Favorite recollections: Wayne A. asking me to remain clothed while calling in fire missions @FLWA (get what sun you can in NW CONUS). Wayne A. realizing who I was, while pinning on JUST CAUSE CIB, etc., "I thought you got out?!?". Some years having elapsed between the two, obviously.

Thank you Gentleman.

Only heard about site t'other week from "Retpara". Went together to Ranger Hario's funeral in Monroe, MI. Hoping George A. Custer's statue situated across street from church was not a bad omen. F'd with 75th Chaplain a bit, as knew him from SWA. Pity to attend ceremony for someone too young to buy a beer, but not too young to be KIA.

Always advise the young, that Rangers are way to go for first tour, if contemplating a career. Will determine QUICKLY if it's really what you want, build a good base in combat skills, and develop a network that boggles the mind. Still know, and interact with folks I first met three decades (+) ago. Spent coupla' days with old team mate in East L.A. t'other week, about 45 minute drive from Columbus, GA. Known him since old B Co. days, as well as a lot of other places later. Never ceases to amaze.

THANX again.
