Mountain Lion Attack In Wyoming

Post by RetPara »

This is obviously playing to the PETA crowd because the mountain lion was in 'poor physical condition'. Too freaking bad the mountain lion got its ass kicked when it attacked something that wasn't quite the easy mark it was looking for.
Man Says He Used Chainsaw to Fight Starving Mountain Lion

CODY, Wyoming — A man says he used his chainsaw to fight off a starving mountain lion that attacked him while he was camping in the Shoshone National Forest.

Ex-Marine Dustin Britton says he raised the chainsaw he had been using to cut brush and inflicted a gash on the 100-pound lion's shoulder.

The animal retreated, leaving Britton with a small puncture wound on his forearm. Wildlife agents later shot the lion after it attacked a dog brought in to track the animal.

The incident occurred Sunday evening at a campsite 27 miles west of Cody. Authorities say the lion was in poor physical condition.

Wyoming Game and Fish spokesman Warren Mischke says lion attacks on humans are rare.

Marine with chainsaw vs. mountain lion
That would make one hell of a cage match.

I'd pay a lot more to see a PETA member v. Lion match.

Leave out the chainsaw, give the PETA drooler a hatchet

One rule I ALWAYS follow:

Never enter into a enviroment that, if you are NO longer top of the food chain, fail to take a firearm or weapon that puts you BACK on top of said food chain.

Wis. DNR reported last week the bear population had increased sixfold - 5000 to 30,000 - in the past 20 years, as opposed to earlier estimates of 10,000 to 12,000.

Wolf population has gone beyond estimated optimum capacity of 350 to 600 this year.

Bears abound on our property - I had one on the back porch a month ago.
There is an established wolf pack on the east boundary of our land - I saw two of them a year ago cross one of our fields and I have found their deer kills within a half click of the house.
Wolves, of course, keep getting listed as "endangered" by the Feds thanks to lawsuits by the PETA groups and are protected. Rule of thumb here is "shoot, shovel, and shut up"
One clever dude shot one that had a DNR radio collar, so he walked it into town to a big motel, found an Illinois plate, and hooked it under the bumper. Guess the Chicago driver went places and met new people.
Tips about the radio collars - if the collar doesn't move for six hours, it sends a special signal indicating such and the DNR assumes the animal is dead. They will locate the collar for retrieval. Tracking signal indicates rate of speed - never put one in a vehicle as the speed is a giveaway that someone has taken it. They will locate the collar for retrieval.

DNR denied the existence of mountain lions here for years until one wandered from Wis into the Chicago suburbs last year. Now they admit they are established. Prints, scat, and kills have been documented near Eau Claire, an hour or so away from here.

They've spotted bear in and around Fort Bragg lately, the county east and south of me. There are coyotes the county west of me. There was a report of either a mountain lion or panther the county north of me. Yankees all around me!

I'm fooked! Time to start killing everything that comes on the property!!

Good policy since the rabies rates are very high around here. I was on my morning jog the other day and a raccoon faced me down. First time I've seen one in the day time here in NC.
