Cell Phone Provider ?

Post by Flesh Thorn »

I am dropping Suncom after about 6 years. My biggest complaint is I don't have any service outside of a limited range and this is with their Nationwide Plan. Who has good coverage and decent service and service that works in the boonies ? I do not care about internet, downloads, bells and whistles, etc., just something that I can talk on.

I've got AT&T. It works everywhere I've ever been. I don't do any of the extra crap (except for unlimited text for the teenagers) and cost is reasonable.

Stay away from Sprint. Service is spotty, calls are dropped frequently and customer service is terrible.
I am looking at switching to AT&T or Verizon when I switch.

I use AT&T, "the network with the fewest dropped calls". While that is pure unadulterated bullshit, the service is decent, and it roams well internationally.

I've had T-mobile & Cingular/AT&T, and they are about the same. A friend has Verizon, and the coverage seems about the same.

I've had Verizon for about three years and have few complaints, except maybe their pricing. Even when I go back home to downeast Maine I get decent reception. Not the best, but when I had sprint I used to get roaming fees when I went home even on a national plan.

Of course, location is critical, but here in the West, I've used Verizon (tried Sprint, AT&T and others), and Verizon has the best coverage of all.

I have a data plan with them also and have done many road trips (+12 hours) where I maintained a solid cell and data signal with no drops.

Sprint has the best phones, but Verizon has the best coverage, IMHO.

I have AT&T, and plenty happy with it. I use it for my cells and computer wireless for the laptop.

The answer really depends on where you are at. Alltel sucks a fat baby's dick in Marion County, FL, and in the mountains around Milton, WV; but, apparently, it's good everywhere else??? Sprint used to be pretty good in Marion County, FL and works in the mountains around Milton, WV. Right now, I've switched my office from Alltel to Verizon, and so far, it's worked OK. The problem in Marion County, is it's mostly rural, forest and swamp, and nothing works out there.

I would check with the local law enforcement, or something like that, where people are always all over your area. They will know what works and what doesn't.

Yeah. I've done a couple of cross-country trips and not had any issues with lost signals on my end. If you have a question about your local area, you can use the coverage check map to make sure that you'll have signal in your area.

Verizon works fine here in Ohio. I do some limited traveling and they have always worked for me.

I would also add that Sprint/Nextell sucks!
