What is it like to be in the Ranger Training Brigade?

Post by astudent »

I am currently serving at 1-10 SFG (A). I am a 92Y/supply specialist. I just want to get an idea of what it is like for a support dude at RTB. I know Ranger School is a must, but what other opportunities are there? What is good about it and what is bad about it? Any information will be appreciated. I am on the verge of completeing 8 years and I am contemplating my next move. Thanks.

Are you voluntering for Ranger School, or just on orders to stand behind a counter and fling beat up TA-50 and hand reciepts around?

If you're interested in just being a good supply clerk, then it's probably no different than being in the supply room at any Tradoc schoolhouse.
Might have to come in on the weekend a little more often though.

Probably wouldn't be difficult to get a school slot on a standby basis if you're inclined.

You have to re-learn the position of parade rest and the front leaning rest.

I was in GSC, 5th SFG(A) once upon a time. Support in a Group can cause bad habits. Like cocking your PC back on your head... calling everyone SFC and below "Dave, Bill or John" - shit like that.

Ranger school would not be a must, none of the supply guys had tabs when I was there. (It was the boat house back then)
