Military Channel to air Combatives event

Post by Chiron »

Fort Benning, which is already showcased each year when the Military Channel broadcasts the annual Best Ranger Competition, is now in line for even more coverage.
A three-part series on the 2007 All-Army Combatives tournament, which took place last October, will air April 14-16 on the Military Channel.

The tournament featured nearly 200 fighters from across the Army as well as a Navy SEAL assigned to the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School and an airman assigned to Fort Campbell, Ky.

Crews from the Military Channel documented the three-day event as fighters in seven weight classes were whittled down to the top four contenders for the finals.

The series, called T.O.P. Army Fighter, is part of the Military Channel's Toughest Operation Personnel series. Each episode is scheduled to air at 10 p.m. EST and features color commentary by Matt Larsen, director of the Modern Army Combatives Program.

The episode on April 14 features soldiers in the cruiserweight, welterweight and light heavyweight classes. The flyweight and lightweight classes will be featured on April 15, and the middleweight and heavyweight fighters will be featured on April 16.
