Actually, one of the most horrifying momemts in my life was coming back from Florida for graduation and seeing a female RTB soldier sporting one of the brand new tan berets back in 2001. I'm still in therapy. :(
this shit happened at 4th RTB when I was in, some supply bitch was walking about post with a black beret, they made her stop wearing it!

That experience will never equal the utter horror I felt. While I was attending LRSLC, I woke up with a roaring hangover one day (1992ish) stumbled out of the barracks and into the ever present glaring Benning sun and I see a squad marching by singing cadence. In that squad was the prettiest Ranger in BDUs. Since they were wearing no rank or anyting I assumed they were students and had an absolute SHIT-FIT. After storming from the barracks and making an ass of myself I found out it was a squad of DEA.
