Introduction

Post by Matt24 »

Hi, my name is Matt and I am 17 years old in my Junior year of high school. I've always wanted to be a Ranger since I was a little kid and have always had profound respect for those in the military.

Currently I don't know what college I'm going to attend but I'm looking into ROTC when I do. I'm really not sure how it's all going to work out but I've got time, I'm only in my Junior year of high school. All I'm really sure of is that I'm going to be a Ranger.

Thank you, Rangers, for even taking the time to read this. I look forward to being a member of this board and learning a lot more.

As far as physically fit goes, I haven't taken an APFT or anything but I do know I can do about 60 push-ups in a row and 14 pull ups. I'm pretty physically fit at 5'11" 175 lbs. I play football as a fullback and run track in the 100m dash and the 200m dash.

Lastly, I apologize if I have the wrong avatar, I wasn't able to find "Newts" in the gallery.

Rangers, I am slightly worried about playing football or even rugby this spring because I don't want to be injured and have to deal with it later on when I train to be a Ranger. I already have a lot of injuries under my belt and they all increased my chance of getting injured again during Ranger School. One of them, my broken ischium, still gives me problems today. I don't even know if it's worth it anymore but I am the starting fullback so quitting isn't really an option.

And becoming a Ranger is not an option either. You have it or you do not. Your driven to it or not. Do not live in a bubble. If you are worried about getting hurt playing football, what do you think is going to happen to you in training to become a Ranger and then serving as one?

You're right Ranger Bill that was a pussy thing to post. I'm working harder, stretching more, lifting more, and getting in better shape to decrease my chances of getting injured.
And the more you worry about getting injured (or just failing in general) the more likely you will be.

Its the celebrating after a game, going drinking, getting DUI or whatever that you gotta watch out for.
