Lions for Lambs

Post by GSXRanger »

I saw it tonight... before I spill my .02 on the flick, I was curious as to who has seen it, and what did you think?

Discussion?

I sat through it without saying STFU out loud.

I only mention it because normally that's no problem.

I would like to hear a "Go or Nogo", because I don't want to go see it if it's some anti-American propaganda.

Actually, I would wait for the DVD.

It makes some decent points, but... it is a typical Hollywood movie, with Liberal undertones.

Some of it, I liked... some of it, I didn't like.

In the end, it puts it right on the laps of the young people in this country... as if to say... What are YOU gonna do now, to fix it?

My favorite line is when Redford (cant stand him, btw) said...

"Wake up... Rome is BURNING... are you gonna join the masses that just skirts around the fire?"

It's basically a movie that took place in a ONE hour period, and you see things that happen exactly at the same time, from three different angles.

It does make you think, but... I couldn't stand the hidden Liberal undertones in the movie.

No. :x

OK, I was bored and there just happened to be a showing within driving time, just a few minutes after the peak of my boredom. And yes, before anyone asks, I already looked at internet porn.

I, for the most part, liked the movie. I thought it was one of those rare movies or books or whatever that allows different people to walk away with different opinions of what they just saw/read/heard. And yes, before anyone asks, it would have been much better if Tom Cruise would have pulled out Otis from behind the desk and split Meryl Streep's head wide open.

Depending on a person's geopolitical views and national awareness, pride, and general giving a fuck about America and her virtues, they may walk away thinking they've just seen a liberal, anti-American, the-Govt-attacked-New-Orleans-w/-Katrina, America's bad movie. Or, someone might see a pro-Republican movie, or whatever. I think this movie touches on a lot of points, and it doesn't matter whether they're valid or bullshit. What matters is what a viewer already believes, and how those beliefs will influence what they think they saw.

This isn't a movie that makes you think about a lot of different views, or one side is better than the other. It just morphs into whatever you already believe.

I also think that the target audience is high school/college grads. It is definitely working towards asking young people to make a choice that is more important than what color kicks they're going to wear with their new puffy jacket today.

What I watched was a movie about people trying to make a difference in the world. They may or may not succeed, and that's not the point, but they are trying.

I'll STFU now!

Exactly what ANGRY wrote. He pretty much hit the nail on the head, spot on.

I wanted to shoot holes in the screen every time Streep, came on the screen.

I heard on the radio today, that the "after party" , after the opening of the movie... Redford, Streep, and Madeline Albright were all in the back room, hugging, and doing what ever liberal commies do...

I admit, the movie does have it's strong points, and it makes you think... but, knowing that Cruise, Redford, Streep were the dynamic trio... just made it hard to swallow.
