Joe,

I was always able to wear suspenders at the Departments that i worked for.

Personally, I disliked them with cop gear....but to each his own.

K&W makes great cop gear....try googling "Blumenthal's" + WA, as K&W seems to be scarce and peculiar to the PACNW.

Might try digging up some police studies on low back and the use of suspenders....

Still suffer to some degree back pain due to carrying all that crap on my duty belt. However, i found that the only thing that will help is execise, specifically, exercises for stronger back, abs, and hips ie. dead lift, squat, abs, hyper-extension. When i exercise regularly there is no problem. Long hours on your feet or sitting in a patrol car with all that weight will cause some long term effects if you do not follow a strength routine. Suspenders will only make things worse if you substitute them for exercise.

Joe,

I just personally didn't like the "pulling" effect....I figured cop gear wasn't that much weight, hence no need for suspenders...I alwys wore my lce in the army unbuckled to avoid the "pulling" effect, but you really can't do that as a cop with a holster. 8)

EVERYONE in Washington/seatac who wears suspenders wears K&W.......and I forget about about a better, cheaper cop store....
