Introduction

Post by tileman »

Hi. My husband recently joined the Army and shipped out to Fort Benning on April 24. He graduates from OSUT August 10 and will go imediately to airborne training and then on to RIP. He is very excited. This is something he has always wanted to do.

I happened upon this site as I was searching around for information and thought I'd check it out. It's nice to get info from people who have actually been there and done that.

Thank you very much Ranger Luna. May I ask a question? I've heard how hardcore RIP is and I was wondering what the sucess rate is? My hubby is very physically fit and can handle a lot so I'm pretty confident in his ability, but I'm curious.

If he is as physically fit as you say he is, his making it will depend on his head and his heart.

The pass rate is quite low.

Someone in the best of physical condition can easily fall to way side. It's what's inside that counts.

First off all, thank you and your husband for your service (yes, I feel being the HH6 of a Soldier is also service to my Country).

In answer to your question, it really depends on how much he loves you...What I mean is this:

If he quits....he doesn't love you...Quiters quit everything...and that includes their relationships.

If he gets hurt...he loves you but tries to hard...sometimes you just have to let things go....

If he makes it...he loves you enough to go through weeks of the most utter hell that can be legally administered, and therefore you should always treat him, from that day forward, with the utmost respect, honor, love and commitment you can muster...for on that day...and forever...he will become a Ranger...

And if he makes it... you are never to call his Tan Beret a "hat"!!!! That is grounds for an immediate divorce...

Once again, welcome here... Feel free to ask some questions, after you get an Avatar, and have used the search button...

Varies from RIP class to class, of course. Historiclly, RIP has a 50% pass/fail ratio. A class starting with 100 'physically fit' cantidates will graduate 50 (or less) Rangers.

Of course, if your husband is this squared away, he may be secretly shipped of to the super secret Ranger class where only 10 students start the class. I am not allowed to comment further without violating OPSEC.
