Supposedly Master Sgt. H. ''Max'' Mullen Ret. 75th Ranger Regiment made reading it mandatory reading for his Rangers and they went from worst to best platoon in 6 months.

All I know is that this is one of the most exciting and motivating books I have ever read. I stayed up all night reading it. I highly recommend it.
That second statement is total bullshit. Yes the book is very good.

It is I that is humbled. You in today's army, in these advanced times doing a thankless job at great risk to ones personal safety. Be safe my friend. Tell all your buddies, I thank them. If we ever shall meet, the next beer(s) are on me. Your money is no good.

Larry's "Death in the A Shau Valley" is one of the finest chronicles to come out of the Vietnam War. It's an edge-of-the-seater. Go read the reviews at Amazon.

Of the 20 or so Vietnam War 101 Abn. Div. LRRP/Ranger books now in print (or out of print), my favorite is a small cult novel written by Ken Miller, Tiger the LRP Dog. If you can find it, grab it. It was published by the highbrow Atlantic Press but is now out of print.
