For 10,000 post here it is.

"Somewhere a True believer is training to kill you.
He is training with minimum food or water, in austere conditions, day and night.
The only thing clean on him is his weapon.
He doesn't worry about what workout to do - his rucksack weighs what it weighs and he runs until his enemy stops chasing him.
The true believer doesn't care "how hard it is", he knows either he wins or he dies.
He doesn't go home at 1700; he is home.
He knows only the cause.
Now who wants to quit?"

I haven't read Ford's book but the blurbs look interesting. I read Coyles book several years ago and thought it was great specualtive fiction.
Coyle's book, BTW is not about Xenophon, but about a group of US soldiers who must fight their way out of a recently re-united Germany in the midst of a coup.
My biggest issue with Coyle's stuff was he had women PL's in a combat unit....we don't have to open that debate again here, but that's what put me off to him. I did enjoy his first book, Team Yankee.

In that same vein, I really enjoyed Ed Ruggero's 38 North Yankee, as well as his non-fiction on paratroopers during D-day:
"The First Men In: US Paratroopers and the Fight to Save D-Day

He has one novel on 3/75 that I didn't love. The protagonist from Team Yankee is the Battalion S-3 in this book.

10,000 by Michael Curtis Ford was a good book written from the perspective of Xenophon. I enjoyed it a lot.

I don't recall who wrote this. What sticks to mind is someone posting it in regards to HADJI.

I also remember it being posted or stated about Hadji; but, for some reason, thought it was much older.
