Airborne

Post by Shadow »

I graduated from Airborne school yesterday morning. They rushed our class through since it was the last class of the year. Next one does not pick up until Jan 5. We didn't get our second weekend off. We jumped 5 times in 3 days and graduated on Tuesday instead of this Friday. I was disappointed that we did not do a night jump.

I met kageryu311 and talked with him a few times throughout the course. We were both in C Co and he graduated yesterday as well.

Airborne was not that hard. That was my first time in Georgia (and Ft. Benning) and the most south I have ever been. I didn't think it would get that cold down there. The one morning it was 12 degrees with the wind chill, and we were not allowed to wear polypro so I was freezing in the mornings. However, jumping was definitely cool. On my last jump the guy in front of me hesitated in the door and the jumpmaster booted him out of the C130  I managed to avoid injury and come away from Airborne with some good stories and a lot learned.

Hope I get the opportunity to jump more in the future, and I will work to earn these wings everyday.

Airborne!

Cold, wet and you aren't coming home for a few days...but then again, it beats the heat you'll face in Iraq for a year.

Congrats on earning your wings!
