Whatcha gonna get her?

Post by lusus »

That time of year, Christmas is coming. That means we have to figure out what to get her.

She is a good lady, low-drama-and-maintenance, and she treats me right. She's a 1st grade teacher and a bad ass running/skiing/hiking rangerette. I am thinking Ipod (she won't buy one for herself, too much cabbage).

Any other ideas? What have you given that has been a winner in the past? And don't be shy, ladies. What would you like to find under the tree?

If you get her the IPOD, make sure you have it engraved - that is a part of the purchase process on the Apple website, but if you buy one somewhere else you won't get to do that.

I bought my wife and daughter IPods and they liked this model:

with the ability to carry photos too!

Of course, if you can get her a Glock that would be good too. That way you will also be getting her something that creates an activity that you can both participate in together.

Who else has some good Chick Christmas ideas?

Buy her a sweater. If it's too large, she'll be flattered. If it's too small, she'll wear it.

I'm in the same boat as you AC.

When we first got hitched, we had 2 of everything. So, she wants to have a yard sale. I'm in Panama on a restricted tour at Sherman and she calls me wanting to know what to keep and what to sell.

I tell her the balls in her court and I left it up to her to decide what to keep. The one thing I told her not to sell was my stereo. I had in excess of 3 grand in Carver separates and Bose equipment.

She sold all of it for 450.00

Then she cries while she's on the phone thinking I'm going to divorce her because of it.

I told her to calm down, I'd just get another one. Yeah, right.

11 years later. Never did get another one. As for her, we're no longer together, kinda like my stereo.

As for missing her or the lack of a decent stereo all these years.......

You should see all the shit I've got rolling in from eBay :D

It's really not the gift...

Post by LLUbetterhalf »

It's really not the gift... it is the time and the effort...

the time and the effort that goes into to something special for her.

Question, how much money and time are you willing to invest in what do you want to provide as the gift? It sounds like she is the perfect better half for you and that you want to do something extra special. My suggestion (and alot of the Rangers are going to give me grief for this but the ones that want to do somethign special for loved one will do the same thing).

1. Set it up with her boss for a day off with out her knowing. Set her up with a day of pampering. (The more thought that goes into the day the better.)

2. While she is being pampered, have the house cleaned and her car washed.

3. If she likes dinner at home have a meal fixed when she gets home, if she likes out door activities have everything ready for an outing, (to include babysitter w/ the kids packed and ready to go <the whole nine yards> {the less she has to worry about the better}), if she likes romantic dinners take her out to dinner.

The secret here is to have every detail covered. Think of the gift as a special mission where you have to have all of your PCCs and PCIs covered and all of your 7 Ps taken care of Proper Planning and Preperation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. (I think that's right... if it's not please squareme away, I had a brain fart)

Being
a good lady, low-drama-and-maintenance, and she treats me right

I believe she will appreciate this more than any gift out there!

my personal opinion...

Being a first grade teacher, (hard to ask for a day off.) Just, shoot for a Saturday or Sunday. Won't matter. If you make it "her very special day" on that one day of the year, you"ll reap the benifits all the following year long!

LLUbetterhalf is right.

It's the thought, and your time and attention, not the gift.

It's always difficult shopping for the wife. A few things I've determined over the years are:

- Don't get perfume
- Don't get clothes (always seem to get the wrong sizes/colors)
- Don't get appliances (blender, etc)

As for my wife (of 17 years now <can't believe she put up with me this long!>), I'm getting the following:

- 10 carwash pass (to wash the salt/snow/crud off her 4Runner)
- A spa treatment pass (hair, nails, etc)
- Music CD's (she won't use an iPOD)
- An IOU for a weekend-with-the-girls (with a plane ticket to Reno)
- ..some other stuff, but mostly stocking stuffers

Steve,

Ummmm, I remember a certain " present " you gave to the front door of a certain beach house just South of Rio Hato !!!!

But maybe a M-72A2 L.A.W. would be hard to wrap !

My vote is for the personalized Ipod, Brother.

Oh, and a sexy thong in her stocking !
