HALO Jumping
The most common school, aside from Ranger School and professional development courses such as PLDC, BNOC, etc... offered to Rangers after graduating Ranger School is Jumpmaster School. The rest is sort of gravy, not required as much as Ranger and Jumpmaster School are in executing the standard Ranger Mission.
In a way, being anywhere in the Ranger Regiment is like being in school the entire time. You are constantly learning how to execute all sorts of different mission profiles as well as learning individual special skills that are used in your specific role to contribute to mission success.
Army Schools also add layers of additional skill and capabilities to you as an individual which in turn contributes to your unit's effectiveness for performing various missions. Each unit, be it such as a Ranger Company will require that X-number of people in the unit be Jumpmaster qualified in order to have the right number of individuals to complete an airborne operation. However, an airborne insert is not required for every Ranger mission, and although it is AN important aspect of conducting a mission, it is NOT the most important aspect of mission completion. There is a lot more to being a Ranger than falling to the ground. All together, there is much more to be learned at the unit level than at Army Schools. Army Schools exist for two reasons, to conduct the training in a very standardized format and also for certification issues more than anything.
Any rate - that goes a bit beyond just HALO School, but you get a good sense from this how Army Schools and unit training weigh into what makes a Ranger.
