Hello,

My name is Mitch, I'm a civillian, but lookin to join the Army here pretty soon. I've always wanted to be in the military (dad was air force special forces) and now that I'm of age and out of high school it looks like I might get my oppritunity. I know that if I go into the service I don't want to just be a regular grunt, I want to be one of the best and I believe that as a Ranger I would be able to be one of the best. I'm currently talking to a recruiter and getting all the loose ends tied up and once thats done I'm hoping I'll get the paperwork for RIP. I'm sure this site will be a great help to learn some knowledge of what I need to be able to do before I enlist.
If your not confused then your not paying attention.

Welcome to the site and good luck with your choice what ever it may be. Also, there is NOTHING wrong with being "just a regular grunt."
It's all good.

Sir, I never wanted to imply that there was something wrong, I just wanted to state that I want some thing that will challenge me to my very core.

Welcome. Every job in the military is getting a workout these days. Any MOS, in any branch, will offer challenges.

It is not about challenges, it's about serving your country to protect our freedoms.

You stepped in it with your comment about Grunts. Rangers and Special Ops make unique contributions, but what Grunts do is what wins wars. I see an "Old Gunt" lecture coming your way.

Now how the hell do I follow something like that? :?

Thanks OG, timeless advice. Hell, even if the kids don't listen to you sometimes, I think I learn something new every time you post.

Sir, to be truely honest I'm not sure. All I know is that it had something to do with electronics warfare. Now that I'm actually researching and looking into all the things in the military that I would have interest in I stumbled across an insignia he had on a beret that he has. I'm not 100% sure but from all the stuff he has told me, and the insignia on his beret, I believe it was something close to a Combat Controler. I will try to post a picture up of the insignia if I can.

Sir, you have just confirmed that it was right to join this site, your wisdom is greatly appreciated from a person like me. I see that this is indeed a site that I can rely on to give me years of wisdom that is accessible easily. I mean not just to reply to that simple sentence out of your whole post, all of it was of value to me but that simply stuck out the most to me.
