Intro follows; After 25 years in the ARNG and no deployments, I had the bright idea to transfer into the IRR. Within 40 days, I got my deployment orders !
I have visited this site several times, but now it may be VERY helpful !
Can't wait to get "trained-up" at Ft. Jackson !!

Sounds like what my son did. He was in WIARNG and was concerned about being deployed. So he went to Germany and wangled a transfer to some obscure REMF reserve unit there. Surprise! Guess who got deployed first. hahahahaha

For several years I used to try to give him advice but he always said AW Dad that was thirty years ago it's all different now. The DAY he got deployment orders he called from Germany and said UH Dad..........could I ask you some advice?

RE; S-1 info & Deployment issues

A little more... 25 + years, all reserve time in the Nat.Guard and USAR. Enlisted 1980 in the Field Artillery, went OCS, spent 18 yrs in the FA, 3 of my best years in the 187th INF BDE as a PL, 1 year in the CBT EN, and 3 yrs at the RTI as a TAC. Got tired of waiting for the politics in the state, so I went USAR-IRR to pick up my O-4. Don't know what "Big Army" has in mind, but one thing's for sure, this will be my last "training event"
Probably a good chance to put all this time in the boots to some use.
