Another letter from SledgeHammer (RANGER)

Post by Earthpig »

I received this letter in the mail today from the SledgeHammer.

Ranger EarthPig,

Here's my first SITREP to you. So far, I think I'm doing pretty well. Mentally, I'm as focused as ever. And physically, well, there's always room for improvement. We had our first official PT Test this past Tuesday and I did better than about 90% of my company. We have alot of couch potatoes and fat bodies. I scored only a 225, but I passed, so I was happy with that. I'm pushing for an increase of 25 points on every test. I did 44 pushups, 57 situps, and ran a rather slow 13:18 tow mile. You are right about the heat. Guys fall out all the time, due to heat injuries. We've got rather lucky though for about the past two weeks, with alot of cloud cover and rain.

Thursday we did the Eagle Confidence Tower and I thought it was pretty damn fun, and today we had our first CSM inspection. We passed but alot of the guys in my platoon froze up and had trouble answering his questions. We start BRM and White Phase Monday. The time is flying by.

I got to meet Planned Panic at the Soldiers Chapel about 2 weeks ago. He's a good guy but I didn't have much time to talk to him. Also, I've become pretty good friends with Eleven-X. Me and him were Battle Buddies at the 30th and are both here in the same company at 2/58. I see and talk to him all the time. He's a great guy and I have no doubt that he'll drive on to the objective.

Well I have to run so this is the end of my first SIREP.

SledgeHammer

Thanks for the letter, Sledge. Keep your focus, continue to push, bring those PT scores up, hydrate, and knock down some targets next week. Give 120% in all that you do...all the time. Give my regards to Planned Panic and Eleven-X. Good luck to all of you.

Thanks for the SITREP EP, tell that young soldier that we're all pulling for him and to keep up the good work.

The heat huh? Wouldn't know about that. Every school the Army ever sent me to was in the middle of the fucking winter. This guy is getting over.
