Ranger School Class Pics

Post by RangerWill175 »

My sister-in-laws' father went to Ranger school but she doesn't know what class. Is there any way to find out so I could get her a copy of the class photo? Here father died a few years ago (had a heart attack on the track) and she can't ask him. I'm guessing late 60's early 70's. His name was Dit Hester probably a 2LT. Any assistance would be a help. I could ask her to try to narrow it down if I need to but I wanted it to be a surprise.
There are a lot of nice people in the world...I'm just here to help even it up.

I believe that the next of kin can go to the local VA and request a copy of his records. I am not sure if this is a true fact I have heard that you can andthat you can't, however if she can get a copy of his 201 or whatever it was called at that timeit should have thae dates on it. Good LUck.
It's all good.

http://www.archives.gov/research_room/v ... index.html For requesting record, but it is really slow.

Try this link. Since there is already *some* degree of certainty as to when he went, the NOK needs to scan only 50 - 70 class pics to find him.

Certainly might be easier than doing a FOIA and then waiting for months for a dubious retrun, at best.

FWIW, the actual class date is recorded only on the "green card" which is maintained at the RTB. I could easily be wrong on that, but I don't recall my class date being on the tab orders.

Well, after going over there and looking at the late 60, early 70 class photos, it might be a bit more difficult than I thought. Quality on some of them is not so hot.

Try with the RTB.
