Trivia that probably lends nothing of substance to this thread:
Back in the '70s, prior service USN/USAF with VN service wore the MACV SSI, a not uncommon sight.
A lot of prior Marines who served with the air wing wore repros of the WW2 USMC SSI, 5 MarDiv was seen then also.
