Well Pastor, I know you have your hands full right now. Just want to tell you how desperately I wanted to call this morning but Lois said the best thing was to stay off the phones and leave them for real emergencies.

Know GRITS has been with you but we are anxious to hear from you.

I started to call him too, but had second thoughts. He's probably on his second can of coffee.

Andy is probably pretty busy helping someone.

I know there are others too who are in peril and best wishes to all of you down there.

How's your weather Bob?

Phones are down, along with power. Cell phone service is sporadic at best.

My mother's house has a portion of the roof ripped off (North side of Houston), but on my last call - she indicated that the wind seemed to be calming a bit and the rain has slowed as well.

Best of luck to all of you in the eye of the storm!

BruteForce,
Prayers out for your mom.
Ranger Rock Island Ranger,
Prayers out that your lawn has been thoroughly cleaned and received plenty of drink, the palm tree is still standing and you and your family are well.

We didn't get a drop. It missed us by one county. My parents are in Houston, though. They didn't get any structural damage, but have no power, no water, and no phones (landlines). Really no utilities of any kind. I convinced them to head here in the morning.

Their cell phone still had some juice. Turns out, their particular little area got electricity restored this morning. They can't come here because the feeders and underpasses are all under water. There's no way to reach the freeway. The Mayor ordered all residents to stay in their homes and not drive anywhere. At least they have some power now.
