When I arrived in the firebase, I met the Bn Commander. His very first question was, "Did you earn that Ranger Tab or did you just think it would be cool to wear it?" Later he apologized and said he just hadn't seen too many NCO Rangers.
Well, in those days there were not a lot of Ranger-qualified NCOs. I could never get a school slot until I got commissioned. It is good to know that someone actually attended the course before I did. Hurry up and complete the verification process. Welcome...

Jim, thanks for the welcome. By the way, my brother-in-law, (then) Lt. Phil Lindekugel was in country the same time I was and he was an advisor to the ARVN in Tudoc (sp). I was not far away and was able to go visit him two or three times. That would have been in Sept and Oct of 1970, just before I come home. In fact, I was visiting him for the weekend when I got news from the Bn that I had gotten a 2 week drop and needed to get back because I had a day and a half to get processed.

Thanks
Also, thanks for the info on the store. I was rather sure it must be out of business or would be shortly doing business that way. I would think the leadership might want to pass that news along in the newsletter or webb site so members don't get frustrated trying to get gear.
I'm not the 'Leadership' here Brother, but it has been discussed and posted numerous times, a lot of questions you may come up with can be answered by using the 'search' button.

Welcome to the site, proud to have you here Ranger!
