I fired left handed for my entire career with nary a problem. I usually didn't use a brass deflector because it distracted me when I was trying to sight in, so I just got used to the idea that, for 4 or 5 days after I fired, I was going to have a bunch of little red welts on the right side of my face.
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

The road goes on forever and the party never ends.
So all you lefty shooters - if ya all shoot with yer left hand then ya probably wipe yer ass with ya shootin hand. Come that day yew get into a firefight while takin a shit - which task gets priority? Or ya could learn to shoot righty from the beginning so's ya can always be happy knowing that nothing is gonna mess up ya life - ya can shoot and shit at he same time, anytime.

not everyone that is left handed is left eye dom. which is your dom eye? which ever it is, use it and stick with it. useing both hands to fire (unless you get a lot, and i mean alot of range time) is a good way to ensure your not excelent in either. the eye patch trick works, but are you going to have time to put one on in advance in a fight? i can hear it now.....WAIT A FUKIN MINUTE, I DONT HAVE MY PATCH ON YET!!!.....a few seconds later....OK, YOU CAN START SHOOTING AT ME AGAIN, I AM READY! train as you fight. i am not saying that you cant learn how to shoot with both hands, but as an instructor on this very subject, i will tell you the law of averages is against you. and it is far more difficult to retrain your eye than to gain muscle memory to fire with the weak hand. i am blessed and can switch dominance in a fraction of a second, but that took years of conditioning.
oh and dont be a puss, i have had brass land on my neck and sizzle, i didnt stop fireing until i finished my targets, then i removed the brass that was now sticking to my neck.

I shoot lefty and it is not a problem with the M4. The only problem you will ever have is shooting the SAW lefty from the shoulder. Get used to having permanent bruising on your right arm. I'm one of the weirdo's like Desert Sloth that shoots pistols right handed. Never had a problem with transitions. You'll be fine.
I always fired a long gun left handed and a pistol right handed. The only problem I ever had was firing a Pig. Make sure your right sleeve is buttoned close so the brass doesn't go down it. :D

Well Brother, we can't all look like Vikings who can sling a MK2 around their neck
