Re: Introduction- Charles
Rangers,
I have set a line in the sand to go to the recruiters office by this June.
Could I expect 11x Option 40 contracts to be available at that time?
Also, I had one other question. I plan to join as an enlisted soliderm (soldier), however what is the process to becoming an officer once in the regiment? I already have a college degree.
Thank you Rangers.

Re: Introduction- Charles
Charles, don't overthink this. First you have to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment. Then if you have demonstrated a high level of leadership and responsibility, you can apply to attend OCS. When I applied for OCS, I had more than five years with the rank of SSG (E-6). I was commissioned in Infantry. I was afforded the opportunity to complete my undergraduate degree while assigned to the 82d Airborne Division. The point I would make for you is that you have to earn each and every thing in the Army. Don't try shortcuts as they usually don't work out. Never, never quit!

Re: Introduction- Charles
Rangers,
I have a question about deployments. I am married, and my wife has some concerns. She was talking with someone who seemed to over exaggerate everything. This individual told my wife that it is a possibility that she could just receive a phone call during the middle of the day, and she will be told that I'm gone and don't know when I will be back.
Is this realistic? Or, is there generally more communication regarding deployments?
Thank You

Well, I suppose it might be possible. But unlikely.Mako127 wrote:Rangers,

Re: Introduction- Charles
Ranger Jim,
I am soaking in all of the good knowledge available on this site any chance I get. For example I discovered the team room video series last night and watched the Ranger series. Over the weekend I got to do PT and test operations with some active duty Army SF and Navy Seals which allowed me to gain a great deal of valuable insight from them
I have set an appointment to take the asvab officially next week. After that I will be scheduling a time for MEPS.
On my practice tests I have scored in the 93-96 range so I'm expecting to score similarly on the real thing.
I will update this thread when I have a date for MEPS. My recruiter has told me that my PT scores are adequate enough to receive an 11X option 40 contact, and on account of already having a security clearance I should have one waiting for me at MEPS.

Re: Introduction- Charles
Ok Charles, first have you considered anything in intel given your background? You can hit up at least one on here who is an intel guy. I am not sure what kind of intel you do but I can assure you that most of them simply do not sit behind a desk. As for a deployment on a moment's notice. Your wife must understand that there is that possibility since the 75th is constantly on "call" however, unlikely as Ranger Jim said. Do you have any kids? I do not make this offer often however, I came in the Army with a wife and 4 kids, if you have specific questions hit me up on PM and we can take it off line and I can give you a bit more information.

Re: Introduction- Charles
Roger Ranger Jim.
Rangers,
I have met with my recruiter and taken the ASVAB. My AFQT score was a 96.
This qualifies me for any MOS that I could choose.
I have been talking with Ranger Grim666 about various MOS's that I could pursue with the Regiment. I am planning to decide on a MOS this week and then schedule a date for MEPS.

Rangers,
This week my wife and I have discovered that she is pregnant.
I am still planning on enlisting, however now we are thinking that we will wait until after the baby is born.
I will continue to keep this thread updated.
