Intro - Joe

Post by FS Joe »

Hi Rangers. I am an 18 year old currently in the process of enlisting with an 11x option 40 contract. I have spent the last 2 years of my life preparing for this physically, but mostly mentally via a Russian Martial Art called Systema. I am in better mental shape than I am physical, however I realize the 75th Ranger Regiment demands both excellent physical and mental Shape.

The days feel long as I am eager to ship out (though I am not in DEP yet... soon to be). I have passed the ASVAB with an AFQT of 87 and a GT of 123. I am now waiting for my recruiter to call Ft. Knox to try and pull an 11x Opt. 40 for me so I can proceed to MEPS, get cleared and swear in. Below are my calibrated APFT scores so far.

2 minute pushup: 63
2 minute sit up: 64
Pull up: 8
2 Mile Run: Easing into running as to avoid injury (never was a runner). Guess: 15:00

Thanks for reading, and thank you guys for the opportunity to be able to post on such an elite forum where cyber-respect actually matters.

Thank you for the welcoming, Ranger Jim. I am from Southern California, Orange County area. I have lived here my whole life and currently attend a junior college. I have desire to be a part of the 75th Ranger Regiment and more desirably to be tabbed as a Ranger because the career description and lifestyle appeal to my interests more than anything else I have ever considered. It is such an extreme life choice, and the character it builds let alone to camaraderie you develop with the military as a whole are both significant to me. There are various reasons as to why I am going to attempt to achieve placement in the 75th Ranger Regiment, but those are a few of them.

Hey Rangers! I just received great news! My recruiter just called me and informed me my 11x contract now has the option 40 assigned to it! I am heading up to MEPS Wednesday & Thursday to process and swear in! I am very eager and excited, and so nervous because this idea is now developing into reality!

Plus I have some progress on my APFT

Previously:
2 minute pushup: 63
2 minute sit up: 64
Pull up: 8
2 Mile Run: Easing into running as to avoid injury (never was a runner). Guess: 15:00

Current:
2 minute pushup: 72
2 minute sit up: 70
Pull up: 9
1.5 mile run: 10:35 (easing into running to avoid injury).

Have a good day, Rangers!!

Welcome to the site Joe and good news on the Ranger option. Remember once you sign that paper you've made a commitment that few make and even fewer keep. Stay focused, stay motivated and never, ever quit. RLTW
